abstract: In the last two decades, we have witnessed the unstoppable rise of new technologies, particularly those associated with Web 2.0 and social networks. Today, we are entering a new technological phase marked by developments in artificial intelligence (AI), including big data, algorithmic systems, and machine learning. While scholarly views range from scepticism to extreme optimism about the potential of AI, there is no doubt that a number of AI-based applications are already widely used. These include smart toys, automated decisions, recommendation systems, and interactive tools like ChatGPT. As with all technological advances, these innovations carry risks for users—risks that are especially serious for minors. Due to their immaturity and developmental stage, children and adolescents may lack the necessary awareness to identify and respond to the dangers of such technologies. This article focuses on the concrete ways in which AI can pose real threats to minors, complementing broader theoretical analyses with practical, real-world considerations.
