Abstract: The paper aims to offer an essential, but complete and up-to-date review of the asylum
seekers’ reception conditions in Italy, following the tumultuous regulatory development began in the
early Nineties of the last century and subsequent to the building of a Common European Asylum
System, now in its third phase with the imminent implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum
adopted in 2024 and fully effective from June 2026.
